09 Report of KUETEF Meeting held on 1 February 2014
The first
meeting of the KUETEF members in the year 2014 was held in SN Training College
Nedunganda, Varkala on Saturday 1st of this month. 20 teacher
educators attended the meeting which commenced at 10.30. Dr. Reetha Ravi,
Senior Faculty of SN college was cordial in welcoming all the members and
making all the necessary arrangements.
An informal
interaction followed, making suggestions in modifying the Lesson Plan keeping
in line with the recommendations in the new Curriculum. The members arrived at
the following consensus with regard to the changes in Lesson Plan.

‘Lesson Plan’ _ not lesson template or teaching manual- will
be used.
·
Issue and/or sub issue (Theme) will be noted down
along with the prelims at the top.
·
Content Analysis
should be written before writing the Curricular statements. (linguistic and
literary elements are to be briefed)
·
Curricular statements (not objectives)are to be followed with a
learner-centered approach. Eg: The
learner reads and analyses…..
·
Pre-requisites are to be
mentioned next followed by Teaching Learning Resources.
·
References can be written as
the last item of preliminary information.
·
First column in the Lesson Plan will be titled as Classroom
Interaction Procedure and second column as Expected Pupil Responses/
Assessment
·
While writing discussion LPs and for practical and
theory examinations trainees need to write the expected responses.
·
During Criticism lessons and Practice Teaching the
trainee will enter the assessment / actual response in the second column after
the class.
A
power-point presentation on the teaching skills and their components along with
Micro Lesson Plan and Observation schedules was done by Mr JIJAN. Video of its
practicing session in Mount Tabor Training College was also shown.
Other Decisions taken
Ø Practicum
….. for the pedagogy…. it is recommended to give problem based study, again,
that depends….
Ø For the
second semester, both the practicums should be problem based studies, as the
trainees get sufficient time to collect data during practice teaching session.
Ø As envisaged by Dr. Praveen Sir, KUETEF
Secretary Mr. Jijan proposed the idea of launching a website of KUETEF for the kind
consideration of honourable members. In order
to meet the expenses at a minimum level, all the members expressed their
readiness in sharing 250 rupees towards this venture.
After a
sumptuous lunch and photo session with respectable Principal of the college Dr.
Ushakumari K, we called it day and made a move. Dr. Reetha Ravi with her
colleagues deserves a Special thanks. Due to inevitable reasons KUETEF Vice President
Rev Fr. Joseph John and Treasurer Dr. Anila Chacko couldn’t turn up, but both
of them had extended their support for the meeting.
