Presentation of Narrative.(10mts)
The teacher presents
the following narrative with proper facial expression, tone variation,
pronunciation, intonation etc.
Sujatha
went back home. She felt very sad. At night, she went to bed early. She
even forgot to have her supper. Her dear friend Sudharman is in danger. She
lay on the mat with her eyes shut. But she couldn’t sleep. She feared that
Sudharman might fall into the pit. Her ears pricked up for the trumpeting
of an elephant.
‘Oh God! Please save Sudharman. If
Sudharman is safe tonight, tomorrow morning I can tell him about the trap.’
She couldn’t get even a
wink of sleep till late in the night. She woke up suddenly hearing a loud
noise.
‘What’s that?’ she thought.

most and why.

their ideas. Teacher monitors group work by asking scaffolding questions

Teachers version
There is a large pit in
the ground. Sudherman fell in to that pit which is covered with grass and
leaves. Poor elephant! He is trapped. Some elephants came and they begin
to pull him from the pit.

the involvement of whole class]
All group products are exhibited. The teacher asks them to identify
what is more than in teacher’s version.
Select one group product and carries out the following editing
process.
Steps:
1. Thematic Editing:
The learners add missing
ideas in their write-ups and present their final
products for language
editing.
2. Punctuation Editing:
Fixing the boundaries of a
sentence :Only the initial capitalization and the
final full stop/ question
mark/ exclamation mark at the end of the sentence
need be addressed here.
Thus we fix the boundaries of each sentence in the discourse. Other
punctuation marks may be edited along with or just before spelling editing.
